Originally from Griffin, GA, John moved to Augusta in 2018 and is currently a student at Augusta University. In December 2021, John will graduate with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and will begin preparing for the CPA exam.
For those who knew him growing up, John’s career choice comes as no surprise. When he was around 15, John started working with his father who was a CPA. He enjoyed the time he spent learning the ropes from his dad and those memories led him down the path he is on today. John is particularly excited by the consultative approach to accounting he’s discovering at Mayo and Associates and looks forward to growing with the organization.
When John’s not at work, you’ll find him with his fiancé, Madison, either playing a game of disc golf or spending time with their two rescue dogs, Lilly and Barko. John also likes to travel, another interest cultivated at a young age when his stepfather, a pilot, would surprise the family by flying to San Francisco for dinner. John loved growing up in a large family and looks forward to talking with his nine siblings in their group chat each week.

More opportunity, more responsibility, and more fun.
An Augusta native, Jonathan earned a degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting from Augusta University in 2010. He then earned his MBA in 2014 and his master’s in accounting in 2017, both from DeVry University. After working for a local accounting firm for 7.5 years, Jonathan tried his hand at business accounting but quickly realized he missed the client interaction. Early into his first interview at Mayo in 2018, Jonathan knew he’d found a home.
Today, Jonathan manages tax and general accounting at Mayo, but most importantly, he brings the fun. From sharing his enthusiasm for Zoom and multi-colored notepads, to his unique and quotable observations, he keeps us smiling. Our clients know Jonathan as “the guy on Facebook” for his insightful tax and business tips shared on the company page. Jonathan enjoys helping clients save money on their taxes and working with small business owners to discover ways to improve and grow their businesses. He’s looking forward to expanding the role of trusted advisor to his clients and is excited about the future direction of Mayo & Associates, where he aspires to become a partner.
A self-proclaimed shoe hound, Jonathan plans to one day have a room dedicated to his collection. When he’s not shopping for more shoes, you’ll find Jonathan cheering for the Denver Nuggets, the Atlanta Falcons (don’t tell anyone) or his most recent favorite team, Atlanta United. Jonathan also enjoys traveling and hanging out with his cat, Gotham.
Adaptability. We provide a level of service catered to each individual client. We’ll be there for you throughout the lifespan of your business.
If you’re thinking the name sounds familiar, you’re correct. John joined his wife, Lisa, in the firm after serving 24 years in the United States Army. During his military career, John spent 10 years flying helicopters and retired as a Major serving in cyber security. After six moves within the U.S. and three 12-month deployments in the Middle East, John’s happy to settle down and support Lisa’s dream.
As luck would have it, John retired during tax season. Lisa put him to work straight away and any ideas he had to take it easy became best-laid plans. John jumped in with both feet and continues to perform invaluable roles within the firm, including those of office manager, human resources and IT support. Although he regularly threatens to retire permanently, John’s looking forward to working alongside Lisa and growing the business together.
When he’s not working, John enjoys playing around with computers and spending time with Jackson, the family dog, and a very needy, Persian cat named Azrael. For John, staying home is a nice change of pace and he can’t think of anything better than spending time with Lisa.
Going the extra mile to give the client a better experience.
Having grown up in a military family, Leslie lived in Hawaii, South Korea and Atlanta before moving to Augusta in 2008. In December 2020, she’ll graduate with a degree in accounting from Augusta University and will begin preparing for the CPA exam.
Leslie never imagined she would become an accountant, but a job in retail as a cash office assistant introduced her to numbers and an interest in accounting started to grow. After taking an intro to accounting principles course, she knew she’d found her purpose. What Leslie enjoys most about her job is working with people and learning about her clients’ businesses.
When she’s not working or studying, you’ll find Leslie at her piano putting her 10 plus years of training to good use, tubing at the lake with her family, or spending time with the family dog, Pappy, a 15- year-old Chihuahua and Papillon mix.

Pamela Hahn knows payroll. Prior to joining Mayo & Associates, she worked as a senior analyst for ADP for nine years. Pamela has a degree in mathematics and computer science from USC and 25 + years of experience in payroll, finance, and IT. A native of West Virginia, Pamela moved to Augusta in 1991 and was later part of the founding team at the Bridgestone Firestone Tire plant where she built their payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivables.
