Mayo Strategic Advisors is seeking an experienced, forward thinking candidate for our open Staff Accountant/Supervisor position in our Outsourced Finance and Accounting Services. Outsourced accounting is a flexible, cost-effective way to address the ever-changing operational needs of many organizations. Our Outsourced Finance and Accounting team is comprised of highly-skilled professionals with the experience needed to provide the most effective and efficient accounting support to our clients.

The candidate will be responsible for managing designated client relationships and supporting our Outsourced Accounting team.

Key responsibilities:

  • On-boarding new clients and assisting with transition
  • Primary day-to-day client communication and problem resolution
  • Ensuring timely and accurate client communication and deliverables
  • Reviewing and recording of monthly transactions, preforming reconciliations, preparing monthly closing entries
  • Reviewing and preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Assisting with payroll processing
  • Assisting with sales tax compliance
  • Preparing budgets and forecasts
  • Maintain positive client relationships and work with the department to support new client development

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting, finance, business, or related field (or equivalent relevant experience) with 3 – 5 plus years of experience.
  • Strong knowledge of accrual accounting and US GAAP
  • Strong knowledge of QuickBooks desktop and online versions.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Ability to read and understand financial statements and trial balances
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Effective problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work well independently and as a team
  • Demonstrated history of reliability and ability to maintain client confidentiality

DUTIES INCLUDE – BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Prepares and reviews tax returns – 1120, 1120S, 1065, 1040, 1041, 990,706, State, gift, payroll, and sales tax returns.
  • Manages projects of one or more client assignments simultaneously, ensuring overall success of each project.
  • Identifies client’s needs/opportunities in order to sell/cross-sell products or services.
  • Shares and transfers knowledge within the team.
  • Develops deeper knowledge and skills in technical field.
  • Actively pursues self-development opportunities in line with the competency model.
  • Manages the implementation of solutions for clients.
  • Advises and coaches team members, provides consistent recognition and encouragement to team members, and sets an example by demonstrating high energy levels and enthusiasm.
  • Works as an effective team member to complete project components and assignment tasks.
  • Successfully directs and maintains a motivated and empowered work team.
  • Performs a detailed review of the work to ensure quality, thoroughness and completion of assignment tasks within agreed time frames.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve assignment profitability and identifies any risk management issues.
  • Participation in recruitment, business planning, business development, and retention initiatives.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS/TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • CPA, CPA candidate or EA
  • 1 – 3 years public accounting experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge and skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Creative problem solving ability.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A working knowledge of public accounting firm products and services in the practice area, and a general knowledge of products and services in other practice areas.

  • Perform a variety of administrative duties such as answering, screening and forwarding incoming telephone calls
  • greeting customers professionally and determining the nature and purpose of their visit
  • collecting, sorting, distributing and preparing correspondences, mail, messages and entering data
  • maintaining and updating calendars
  • receiving payments and recording receipts.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS/TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • High school diploma or its equivalent
  • Self-directed and able to work independently
  • Friendly and courteous at all times
  • Must possess excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Strong planning, organizational, and communication skills are essential
  • Must be able to work well with staff and management
  • Use consistent good judgment
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instruction
